So the exhaust rusted and fell out on my ZR-1. At the muffler. Not surprising, since a previous owner had removed the stock one for an aftermarket at some point, hacked it up, and then reassembled it on the car at a later point in time.

Gotta step down to the LT4 until I get this fixed.

Now, the question: Billy Boat or Corsa?

I had this same situation once. My BMW was broken, but my ‘78 924 ran fine. But it has no AC, the exhaust is ridiculously loud and raspy, and it gets like 10MPG.

That car sounds like it would instill all the giddies when winding it out on a back road!

Oh yes. And it has like 100-ishHP, so you can push it hard without going very fast.

a couple of months ago the exhaust broke away from it’s flange at the turbo on my GTI, it sounded like a video of a group B rally car played at half speed, lots of weird and wonderful noises coming from the turbo.

I am a big fan of all things glasspack. I bought Pypes race-pro which is basically a square muffler with a glasspack through it

my mini also has an alta exhaust with a similar design.

But seriously cherry bombs sound good on everything. they may not sound as good as an exhaust designed specifically for a car, but they are always a safe bet.

I say go with Corsa. I put a Corsa sport catback system on my Camaro about six months ago. Absolutely love it. Zero drone, great exhaust noise, and only a small increase in interior noise with the windows up cruising on the highway. That last point was important for me. It is my “fun car” but also our “good car” that goes on long trips. My wife claims she didn’t notice a difference in the way it sounds so that’s a win for me.

I have read nothing but good things about the Corsa system. My hang- up, though, is that the tips are round. Factory tips are square passing through a square slot, and I think circle just looks weird. B&B atleast has flattened ovals. Can the tips be replaced with something else on the Corsa?

Yeah, it sounds good, it just induces headaches inside the cabin. @_@

Yeah, that would drive me nuts too. The tips on mine are welded on. So, not easy to replace.

Nah, you can’t fix it. No, it’s totalled now. Yeah, a rare problem with classic, beautiful and well-kept examples of DOHC Corvette goodness. The mufflers on those are worth more than the whole car, so now that one of them has fallen off, it’s scrap. It’s sad.

There’s no way you can avoid getting that car crushed now. Unless...one thing you could do is donate the car to an opponaut. Perhaps one who’s currently driving the slowest car on the board. In Florida. Central Florida, if we’re getting specific

...

OH COME ON YOU GOT TWO CORVETTES YOU DON’T NEED THEM BOTH I PROMISE I’LL TAKE GOOD CARE OF IT PLEEEEEEEEEAAASSEEE

Strictly speaking, the ‘96 is no longer mine to donate. My father graciously allows me access to it when mine needs work...which has been more often than I’d prefer (dead wiper motor, dead alternator, dead intake gaskets, and dead exhaust). @_@
